Artist's Comments:
Most of my childhood in the Caribbean was spent in/on the ocean; fishing with my dad, surfing with my brother, free-diving the reefs for lobster and conch, jumping off the boat with dive mask in-hand every time I saw a pod of dolphins or manta ray. The sea is in my blood, and consequently I enjoy painting seascapes. This painting is a testament to the beauty of the underwater realm and the diversity of life. Before putting paint to canvas, I spent days sketching the fish in my saltwater aquarium and researching the various species to ensure the accuracy of the ecosystem. Pictured is a miscellany of Indo-Pacific organisms, including clownfish, butterflyfish, angelfish, damsels, triggerfish, tangs, sardines, cavale, dolphins, rays, clams, brain-corals, acropora-corals, sponges, anemones, mushroom-corals, fan-corals, polyps, ridged-corals, tubeworms, etc.
